Questions...
What is the best digital camera to get available in Australia?
I want a new digital camera.
It has to be over 10 MP and be under 0.
I have originally had 2 Olympus ones and wasn't entirely happy as the first one lasted only one year and the second one just recently mysteriously produced this black spot in all the photos taken so I really need a new camera. Any suggestions? I heard Canon is good?

I have to recommend the Canon PowerShot A590 IS. Amazon retails it for about 0. It has one feature that other brands do not, a separate optical viewfinder (the little hole you look through at your subject). LCD viewfinders just don't work well in broad daylight. If you are going to take pictures outdoors, you should consider getting a camera with an optical viewfinder.

I can’t say enough about this camera. Before using I suggest that you READ the manual before using and get to know it’s features. Once you have mastered the features and know what it can do there should be NO problems. The problem with some negative reviews I have seen in other articles/comments about this camera is that people fail to study the manual before they use it. This is a great little camera and the only things I have to say is that the USB port cover on the camera is somewhat flimsy and I’m afraid I might break it off. The zoom feature moves a bit too fast to get it exactly where I want it at the moment. That’s why I’m only giving it 4 stars. Other than that it’s a great product.
I bought this to replace my wifes old sony 1.3 mp digi. camera. as you can imagine, the image quality from that was very out of date. Now i also have to say that I have a Nikon D70 that i have had for years now and maybe thats why i really wasn’t impressed with this S630.
1st impression… very nice little package, compact and buttons are in well placed locations. Startup time is almost instant and the screen size is nice, but should have some kind of screen protector. Zoom is nice but moves very quickly, sometimes hard to frame what you want in a hurry. Now… picture quality, unless your subject is sitting still or moving slow, forget about it.. indoor pictures come out blurred and usually overexposed with flash, outside is a little better but still blurred. the sport mode helps with shutter speed it seems but no flash on that mode, so anything needing the flash come out dark. landscape shots are great as is anything stationary. when we do get a nice shot, it does come out amazing. I have a 1 1/2 yr old so getting him to stay still isn’t easy. The movie mode is ok, not a replacement for a good camcorder but for quick little vids to send over the net, its good.
overall my opinion is that it’s a ok camera…maybe i’m just spoiled by D70
So far I have had a great experience with taking pictures. I especially like that when I am taking a picture in a dark room or at night, the picture comes out perfect when the flash is on. My sister has a coolpix and I have borrowed hers many times, so i knew when i was going to purchase a digital camera I was definitely going to buy a coolpix. I have been with out a digital camera for 3years due to my Kodak not keeping the battery life. I will never purchase a Kodak again, It will be Nikon all the way.
I just purchased this camera after returning the Fuji FinePix waterproof camera $129.00.
This camera is just fantastic. The speed of taking pictures is incredible (no waiting between shots).
I have an expensive high end Oympus and wanted a small camera to take quick shots. This camera is just the answer.
I can snap clear/perfect shots at a moments notice while on the move and never again miss a shot while the camera is focasing as I did with my high end camera.
I had considered the Cannon ELF 12MP and the Sony Cyber Shot 12MM, both great cameras, but am glad I decided on the Nikon CoolPix 12MP. This camera was recommended by a professional photographer friend of mine.
My friend also recommended a well padded case. This is for 2 reasons, first so the lens does not get knocked out of alignment while in a pocket, purse, or belt and second, a well padded case will gradually absorb any humidity/moisture and keep the camera dry.
I have a Kodak that is a few years old and thought it was time to upgrade. I went to several stores and checked the camera out. You cannot tell the picture quality until you download them. I was swayed in my decision because the sales associate said the Nikon was the most durable. I carefully read reviews from many sources. I thought I would take a chance on this camera because there were people who said to change the factory settings for a better picture quality. Well I did just that and the picture quality is terrible. I have a Kodak Easy Share 6.1 MP and it takes a much better picture. I am so sorry I purchased this camera. If I was given another chance I would buy a Kodak.
